Behind the counter you’ll be sure to find a friendly welcome from our proprietor, Waheeda Hussain, and her team – Tony, Catherine and Peter amongst others. Together, they make it their business to see that full customer satisfaction is delivered seven days a week. Waheeda gained a degree in Business Studies and she really learned a thing or two about running a successful retail outlet from that as well as her considerable experience on the shop floor. “Providing a truly excellent service is something that we as a team all believe in and are proud of,” said Waheeda. “My husband and I have been here since 2006 and in that time the shop premises have been fully refitted, modernised and more than doubled in size. We want Best One to grow yet more and be able to offer new services, for example, home delivery, in the near future.” Waheeda speaks for us all and her commitment to the local community is unquestionable. As well as providing a thoroughly professional and friendly service from modern premises, we offer extended opening hours at the store as standard, i.e. 6.30am until 8.30pm Monday to Friday plus 8.00am until 8.00pm Saturday and Sunday. So the early starter on the way to work knows where to come to for their morning paper and cigarettes, stopping off for a sandwich or pasty at lunchtime, and maybe pick up some odds and ends or perhaps a handy frozen meal on the way home. We stock a respectable selection of tinned and frozen foods, cereals, desserts, dairy products, crisps and snacks, sweets and chocolate, plus cold drinks. There’s usually a number of special offers to be had, which vary regularly, so those in search of a bargain are particularly welcome! Our Post Office is there too for all the usual services: letters and parcels, wire transfers (Moneygram), road tax etc. No need to go into the city centre! We have a ramp for wheelchair access, extra-wide aisles and a specially adapted counter. There is space to park, too; extending about 30 yards either side of the front entrance.
Remember: Calverley Best One & Post Office is there for you! Many people find shopping in a huge supermarket a somewhat cold and impersonal experience. Not so with us, hopefully. We like to preserve the ambience of cosy “corner shop” familiarity that was taken for granted in times past.
